Our program has expanded this year to include grades 6 and 7, and there are a few remaining seats in those grades. We will add 8th grade in the 2024-25 academic year. Most elementary classes reached capacity after the spring lottery, but don't hesitate to apply if you are interested. We always keep a waitlist for interested families. Enrollment FAQs

  • Do you accept online applications?

Yes! You can apply from this page.

  • When is the lottery?

The lottery will be held in March of 2024. The application period starts in January of 2024. For the 2023-2024 academic year, most elementary classes are full, but a few seats remain. We have expanded our program this year to include grades 6 and 7. At present, we have capacity for students in these grades. If the class you are interested in is full, we are happy to put you on a waitlist.  If a seat becomes available, waitlist students are placed in the order their applications are received.

  • Is there any cost to apply?

No. We are a tuition-free charter school. Because we believe in removing barriers to quality education, we provide instruction and education at no cost to students. The application is free of charge.

  • Do you offer tours or student shadowing?

Prospective students may shadow for up to two hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings. To schedule a tour or to shadow, please contact Cindy, our front office manager, at 970-764-4185 OR by email at juniperfrontoffice@gmail.com.

  • Do you accept students wtih disabilities?

Enrollment in charter schools is available to all students, including students with disabilities, and information about disabilities will not be requested until a student has been admitted and enrolled in a charter school.  For questions regarding the admission and enrollment of students with disabilities in charter schools, you may contact Vanessa Giddings, Executive Director of Student Support Services for Durango School District 9-R, or Philip Werline, Head of School.
        .

  • Do you give preference to any students in the lottery?

Currently enrolled students will have a seat for the next school year.  Priority seating will be given to the following groups, with each group not exceeding 20% of the seats available for that grade level. These groups will not be placed in the lottery.  Each applicant in priority seating will be given a seat in the school, in their relative grade level, and then the lottery applicants will be filled in after the priority applicants.
